The Friends of Philipse Manor Hall are always looking out for ways in which we can foster and promote exchange around the incredible history of our wonderful site.
Well 2025 is no different and our new FPMH Co-President Michael Cavanaugh, is also on the Board of Trustees for The New Amsterdam History Center. It’s in this capacity that he helped open the exhibition “New Visions of Old New York,” a virtual 3-D map of crucial sites that could be found within New Amsterdam, the embryonic future New York City.
In collaboration with the New York City Department of Records and Information Services, one can experience the lives of the enslaved, women and indigenous populations that called the small trading post home. It’s part of New York City’s efforts to commemorate the 400th anniversary of its founding and the exhibition will run through December 20th, 2025. We encourage everyone to visit and take a journey back in time, but don’t forget to experience our own interactive module here at House!
